A Love/hate Relationship With Social Media

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with social media. I still struggle with it. Jōhatsu is a side-hustle—a one-man brand releasing new garments when inspiration strikes or a collaboration comes together. For now, that’s pretty irregular. Between everyday life, a day job, and writing a movie I’m passionate about, I can’t be posting every day—and honestly, I don’t want to.

Instagram is definitely one of my favorite platforms. I’m a visual person, and I love scrolling through for inspiration (and let’s be honest, for the funny memes and dog videos). But I’m not someone who posts a lot, even on my personal account. With Jōhatsu, I just want to post when there’s a new release or drop coming up. I’m not out here chasing followers or trying to flood your feed with constant updates.

That said, social media is a big deal for brands—it’s where you connect, communicate, and build awareness. That’s why Jōhatsu is on Instagram and Facebook—I’d love to connect with you there when I do post. I’d rather focus on being genuine and posting with intention, hence my attachement to my newsletter, occasional but well craft. Quality over quantity, you know? I’m not here to pollute anyone’s feed with constant updates just to stay visible.

It’s probably naive, but I kind of hoped people would just find Jōhatsu, connect with the designs, see the quality, and get what it’s about. With each release, I want to offer something meaningful while hopefully, one day, making a living doing what I love.

Thanks for sticking with me on this journey. I’m excited to share new releases and stories with you—when the time is right.
