With a background in filmmaking, I’ve been screen-printing for over 15 years as a creative outlet when I wasn’t working on set.
In 2024, I began laying the foundation for Jōhatsu—a one-man brand rooted in craftsmanship and ethical values—and officially launched it in 2025. Inspired by D.I.Y. culture, minimal aesthetics, and a punk ethos, Jōhatsu enables my pursuit of creative freedom—building a life on my terms, free from external constraints, external approvals or traditional structures. It enables me to pursue my passions as a screenprinter and filmmaker while giving back: a portion of proceeds supports mental health initiatives, and garments that don’t meet my quality standards are donated to a local homeless charity, ensuring they still find value.
While I’m not a trained graphic designer, I’m excited to collaborate with like-minded artists who share these values.
Naming the brand Jōhatsu was intentional; it’s a Japanese term meaning “evaporation,” often used to describe people who intentionally disappear to escape personal struggles or societal pressures. To me, it represents the act of stepping away from an old life and beginning again with a clear purpose.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
